  35. This is what still being a CS major in school and having no exposure
  36. to the "real world" (tm) yet will do for you.
  37.  
  38. The article was probably right. C is still low down on the list of
  39. most widely used languages. Most engineers and scientists still use
  40. either ForTran or BASIC (or some derivative form of basic), most
  41. economists and social scientists use either ForTran, and COBOL is
  42. still number one with the banking and accounting crowd.
  43.  
  44. As far as most used language on a PC? MicroSoft and DOS saw to it
  45. that BASIC clearly wins in that category. As a matter of fact,
  46. when I first bought my ST, it came with BASIC and LOGO...for people
  47. who don't want to do any serious programming, they probably wouldn't
  48. buy a language, just use the interpreters that came with their machine.

  50. So, don't laugh too hard...I did, but after getting my Masters, and
  51. contracting around for about 5 years, and reading the trade journals,
  52. and talking with other computer professionals....C still has a way
  53. to go outside the computer science field.

  183. The same thing happened to me. I also got icone2 from panarthea 1/23/90.
  184. I'm using a 1040ST, color, no other DA's or TSR's.

  210. I've never had a problem with MWC (yet) but then I've never actually
  211. looked for the problems you mentioned.  I have done a lot of stuff
  212. with arrays (which involves pointer arithmetic) and have yet to find
  213. a problem.

  237. heard (unfortunately) that it was buggy.  I don't know how true it is
  238. and I didn't hear to what extent but they did say something about the
  239. thing not fitting in some STs!
